New York, New York – Asian American Asian Research Institute (AAARI) presented their 2009 Annual CUNY Distinguished Alumni Award to Mr. Savio S. Chan, President and CEO of US China Partners during their Annual Gala and banquet in New York City. AAARI also presented the 2009 Leadership Award to Dr. Kiran Bedi, the first Woman Officer of Indian Police Service and the recipient of Ramon Magsaysay Award (Asian Nobel Prize).
AAARI’s annual Gala was attended by 400+ Asian and non-Asian academic, business, civic and community leaders, faculty, staff and students.
The current Asian American representation in City University of New York (CUNY) is over 40,000, with more than 3,600 faculty and staff, 3,500+ graduate students and 33,000 undergraduates of Asian heritage. There are tens of thousands of Asian American CUNY alumni working and living throughout New York and the country. AAARI engages the Asian American community within CUNY, New York City and beyond.
